Mid & East Antrim Community Advice Services helps people resolve their debt, benefits, housing, legal, discrimination, employment, immigration, consumer and other problems and is available to everyone regardless of race, gender, sexuality, age, nationality, disability or religion.
Mid & East Antrim Community Advice Services is a registered charity core funded by Mid & East Antrim Borough Council. We receive other funding from projects such as Welfare Reform, Pension Wise, Money Advice Service and Mid & East Antrim Age Well Partnership, as well as donations from the public.

Applications for free school meals and uniform grants opens on 9th June.
To be eligible you must be in receipt of:
Income Support;
Income Based Jobseeker’s Allowance;
Income Related Employment and Support Allowance;
Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit;
Child Tax Credit or Working Tax Credit with an annual taxable income of £16,190 or less;
Universal Credit and have net household earnings not exceeding £15,000 per year.
Or:
if you are an Asylum Seeker supported by the Home Office Asylum Support Assessment Team (ASAT);
or
if your child has a statement of special educational needs and is designated to require a special diet.
You can request your proof of benefit letter online from here
secure.dwp.gov.uk/get-a-proof-of-benefit-letter/
For those in receipt of Universal Credit you will have to upload screenshots of your latest claimant statement showing the breakdown of the payment making sure it shows your name and address

Just announced:
All pensioners in Northern Ireland affected by the changes to the winter fuel payments will now receive a one off payment of £100.
The payment will be made by March 2025 at the latest and there will be no application process as those eligible will be identified through existing records and payments made automatically.
Those pensioners in receipt of Pension Credit or other means tested benefits will receive the regular winter fuel payment.

If you have been affected by the changes to the eligibility to the Winter Fuel Payment (WFP) and are not in receipt of Pension Credit then give us a call or drop us an email and we will carry out a benefit check to see if there is an entitlement to Pension Credit.
Pension Credit can be backdated up to 3 months so applying before 21st December 2024 could bring you into entitlement for the WFP.
